Overview

The NF-B413 type humidity sensor is constructed from high-molecular humidity-sensitive materials. When the humidity in the environment increases, the high-molecular material swells. This swelling leads to an increase in the internal free volume, resulting in more carriers. At the same time, the activation energy of the counterions of the high-molecular polyelectrolyte decreases, and the mobility increases, causing the impedance of the material to drop. Conversely, when the environmental humidity decreases, water molecules escape from the ionic polymer, increasing the resistance of the material. By measuring the change in its impedance, the relative humidity in the environment can be accurately monitored.
